By bus it takes approximately about 2 hours to reach Indore and Maheshwar each, while it takes about 2.5 hours to Khandwa Railway Station from Omkareshwar city. The railway station nearest to the city is the one at Omkareshwar Road on the Ratlam-Khandwa section in Western Railway zone. However, this is not a mainline, but meter gauge trains are available, connecting Omkareshwar to cities like Ratlam, Ajmer and Khandwa. The Khandwa Railway Station, about 72 kilometres from Omkareshwar provides express and superfast trains to almost all parts of the country. The Indore Junction Railway Station, about 77 kilometres from Omkareshwar city is the nearest major junction, connected to cities like Katni, Khandwa, Ratlam, Bina, Bhopal, Ujjain, Gwalior, Jabalpur within Madhya Pradesh and also to all other Indian states.
